- CertificationCertified Christian sexual addiction specialists have obtained extensive training, education, and experience in treating sexual addiction from a trauma model. They are trained in working with the sex addict from a clinical and spiritual perspective. Why get certified? There are a lot of reasons and plenty of benefits. For one, practitioners will have opportunities to network and work with other specialists in the area of sexual addiction treatment. Also, the synergy of a group of professionals will help advance sexual addiction treatment as a specialization and provide opportunities for research and theory. And those certified by AACCSAS will be listed in a national registry allowing potential clients and other professionals to identify those working in the field who specialize in treatment of sexual addiction from a clinical and Christian perspective. What does certification look like? There are two types of certification possible through AACCSAS. A clinical certification for professional Christian counselors and a pastoral certification for leaders of churches, parachurch organizations, and ministries involved in treating sexual addiction and co-addiction.
